Frances S. Currier

Frances (Smith) Currier, 85, of Weare, NH died of cancer on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at Concord Hospital. She was born on Milton, MA the daughter of Edwin M. Smith and Annie (Tinker) Smith. She graduated from Milton High School and Bridgewater State Teacher's College. She married Harlan W. Currier of Milton, MA in 1942. For 25 years, she lived in South Weymouth, MA. She summered in Weare, NH for many years, moving there in 1976. She taught 4th grade at Berlin and Concond, MA before teaching at Holbrook, MA from 1955 - 1977. Her husband of 49 years, Harlan W. Currier, died in 1991. She is survived by her son, Richard H. Currier of New York City, New York; two grandchildren, Stephanie Watt of Braintree, MA and William Watt III of Redondo Beach, CA; one sister, Elizabeth Hollidge of Milton, MA; and a brother-in-law, Donald Currier of Guilford, CT. She was the mother of the late Nancy J. Watt of Buzzards Bay, MA. She participated in many town activities in Weare. She was a volunteer librarian at the Weare Public Library for many years. She volunteered for the NH Historical Society for 7 years and as a tour guide of the Concord Historical Museum. She attended the Deering Community Church and was a member if their Ladies Guild. Her interests were gardening, reading, swimming, doing crossword puzzles, playing bridge and genealogy. She enjoyed traveling and had many trips with her husband. A Memorial Service is planned at the Deering Community Church, Deering, NH on December 27th at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at the Milton Cemetery in Milton, MA.
