Frances Elaine Saladino “Fran” Tullar, passed away on February 29, 2024, just two weeks from her 101st birthday, at her home in Lyme, NH. Born to Pieto Joseph Saladino and Josephine Loretta Bacon Saladino on March 14, 1923, in Hanover, NH. Fran's life was a tapestry of love, education, and community service.
Fran's journey began in Fairlee, VT where she grew up until she was 6, when a tragic car accident took the life of her mother. Fran's Aunt Gladys and Uncle Guy Aldrich of Post Mills, VT raised her. Her childhood was filled with the simple joys of life, which laid the foundation for her desire to learn at Thetford Academy, Class of 1942. She pursued her passion for education at the University of Vermont and Plymouth State Collage earning a degree in the art of education.
It was in 1944 that Fran's heart found Bernard Wayne Tullar Sr., a true testament to enduring love, they were married in a quaint ceremony at their family church. Together, they raised one son, B. Wayne Tullar Jr.
For over 20 years, Fran shaped young minds as a beloved teacher at Laura Barnes Elementary School in Lyme, NH. Her passion for literature and history was infectious, leaving an indelible mark on countless students. Her legacy in education is as enduring as the knowledge she imparted.
Fran's life outside the classroom was rich with farming the land with her husband Bernard on their dairy farm in Lyme, NH. Her garden was a vibrant oasis, her crossword skills were unmatched, and her knowledge of the answers to questions asked on “Jeopardy” amazingly fast!
Fran's apple pie and raised donuts for dipping in maple syrup were made for family and friends with love and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents and her half-brothers, Peter and Paul Saladino. Fran's memory is honored by her surviving sister, Brigida Mosley of Keene, NH, her son, Wayne and wife, Shirley Tullar of Lyme, NH, her grandchildren, Patrick and wife, Susan Tullar of Fairlee, VT, Jeramie and wife, Heather Tullar of Lyme, NH. Great Grandchildren, Samantha, Katherine, Sophia, and Carter Tullar, and Frances many nieces, nephews, and a community of friends and former students.
Fran’s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence is deeply missed but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.
A graveside service led by Pastor Gail Dimick will be held on August 23, 2024, at 2p.m. at the Highland Cemetery, Lyme, NH.
