Frank Crnkovic, 76, of Bedford, died February 12, 2003 at the Laurel Center in Bedford. He was born in New York City on March 28, 1926, the son of Franzel and Josephine (Hutter) Crnkovic and had resided most of his life in Big Indian, NY before moving to Bedford two years ago. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He owned and operated Frank's Construction Company in New York for over fifty years and was also the past owner of the Weyside Resort in Big Indian, NY. While residing in NY, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Rotary Club and the VFW. He was the past Fire Chief and Commissioner of the Big Indian - Oliverea Fire Department. He was also former Deputy for the Ulster County, NY Sheriff's Department. He belonged to the Pompano Beach, FL Elks Club. Family members include his wife of 48 years, Doris (Wisniewski) Crnkovic; a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Debra) Yetman of Bedford and two cousins. There are no scheduled services. After cremation, inurnment will take place in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Big Indian - Oliverea Fire Department, Firehouse Road, Big Indian, NY 12410.
