Frank A. Minakin Sr.

On Jan. 3, 2022, after 7 years battling COPD, Frank was granted his final request to die at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born in Wakefield, RI, Sept. 26, 1942, the son of Elmer and Edna (Nelson) Minakin.

Following his graduation from Central High in 1961, Frank served 4 years in the US Navy, including time on the destroyer USS Blandy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Frank worked at Electric Boat in Ct., building submarines, and later became a machinist. After returning to NH in the ‘70s, he formed Mini-Mac Landscaping with good friend, Ron McLaughlin.

Frank was a member of the Auburn Historical Association. His greatest passion was the Granite State Treasure Hunters Club, where he became a mentor to many. There he met his long-time friend, Dick Hanneman.

Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Judy (Mitchell) Minakin, son Frank Minakin, Jr., of Deerfield, and his wife Brenda, son Gary Minakin of Candia, daughter Christine Minakin of Auburn, 3 granddaughters Alyssa, Kaitlyn, and Kasey, half-brother Clifford Minakin, in-laws Jim and Shirley Delacoe, and Bill and Linda Mitchell, and many nieces and nephews.

A committal will be held in the Spring at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
