Frank B. Welin, Jr., 67, of Dunbarton, New Hampshire, passed away in the comfort and familiarity of his home on Friday, June 28th following a period of declining health.
Frank was born on December 1, 1951 in Stoneham, Massachusetts to Frank and Evelyn (Robinson) Welin. He was raised in Reading, Massachusetts and attended Reading public schools. Frank was a professional truck driver, driving for various construction companies in NH and MA, until his retirement in 2015.
Family was always of paramount importance to Frank. He and his sweetheart, Patricia, were married for 40 years. They moved to New Hampshire in 1981, eventually settling in Dunbarton, where they raised 3 children together. Frank and Patricia enjoyed "Sunday drives" no matter what day of the week and regularly loaded the kids into the car to take off for destinations unknown. In later years those Sunday drives involved hours traveling to visit their children and grandchildren.
Frank possessed a gruff demeanor which concealed a soft heart. He was a champion for the underdog with a particularly soft spot for children and animals. He had seemingly limitless room in his heart for rescue dogs and, being partial to Huskies as well as mutts of all kind, there were always at least two dogs warming the family home at any given time.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Travers) Welin; his children, Deb Horak and her husband, Dan, Eric Welin and his wife, Melissa, and Jason Welin; grandchildren, Nicholas Pelletier, Caleb Welin, Kathryn Kingsbury, Trevor Pelletier, and Anthony Welin.
Family and friends are invited to gather Sunday, July 7th 1:00-2:00pm at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King Street in Boscawen. A memorial service will begin at 2:00pm in the Cremation Society chapel.
