Freda was born on October 19, 1940, in Colebrook NH to Ruth and Buddy Washburn the 3rd of 8 children. She passed away peacefully at home with her sister Sherry by her side following a short illness.

Freda graduated from Colebrook Academy at the age of 17 and had to wait until October to join the Air Force. Her patriotic spirit would remain with her for her entire life. After her service in the USAF, she attended nursing school in Concord and became a licensed nurse.

Freda was a very strong church going person who belonged to a local bible study group. She was also community spirited and for many years gave her time volunteering at The Mascoma Senior Center. In recent years she especially enjoyed joining her friends at the Center to listen to Neil tell a tale and join in trivia. She belonged to the American Legion and served the Town of Canaan as Supervisor of the checklist.

Freda was predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and her son Wade who died serving his country in Desert Storm. She is survived by son Eric Hector, several grandchildren and 4 siblings.

Freda had a saying “we are not different we’re unique”. She was a unique lady who will be desperately missed by her family and friends.

A service will be held on Saturday April 4th, 2PM in Enfield NH at the United Methodist Church on Route 4. Please join us in a celebration of Freda’s life to be held downstairs immediately following the service.
