Frederick ''Fred'' T. Bird, Jr., 76, of South Stark Highway in Weare died on August 5, 2001 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester after a short bout with cancer. Mr. Bird was born on December 24, 1924 in Lynn, Massachusetts the son of the late Frederick and Edythe (Tarbox) Bird. In 1948 he moved to Morrisville, Vermont where he worked as a laboratory and x-ray technician for Copley Hospital. He was a US Navy Veteran and served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a former member of the VFW in Morrisville, Vermont and the Odd Fellow's in Hyde Park, Vermont. He relocated to New Hampshire in 1980. Prior to retirement he work as a machine operator for Nim-Cor in Nashua. He was an active member of the VFW in Weare, NH and the Odd Fellow's in Goffstown. Family members include; his wife of 51 years, Glenna (Jarvis) Bird; two daughters, Mrs. John (Cheryl) Caldwell of Center Strafford, NH and Mrs. David (Carla) Neal of Manchester, NH; three grandchildren Chiloe, Griffen and Jared; one great grandson, Anthony; one sister, Mrs. Alan (Lorraine) Reynolds of Wilton, NH; five nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Celeste Bird. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 11th at 2:00 PM at the Riverbank Cemetery in Stowe, Vermont.
