Gary X. Cutter 1935 – 2025
HILLSBORO, NH – Gary X. Cutter, of Deering, NH, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the Hospice House in Concord, NH, following a brief stay. Known to many as “The Video Fisherman,” Gary lived a life rooted in the outdoors, community, and unwavering love for family.
Born in Concord, NH, to Earl X. and Gwendolyn (Chesley) Cutter, Gary was raised in Antrim, where he developed his lifelong passions for nature and sports. He graduated from Antrim High School in 1953, one of only three surviving boys in a close-knit class of 16. A gifted athlete, Gary excelled in baseball and golf—winning multiple Club Championships at Duston’s Country Club and famously clinching the State Mother-Son Championship alongside his mother. He played baseball for both Antrim High and the local town team, leaving a mark on the field as well as in the community.
Gary briefly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school but was honorably discharged following a hunting accident. He went on to enjoy a long career as a skilled mechanic, working at Monadnock Paper Mill, Osram Sylvania, and the Goodell Company. A dedicated public servant, he volunteered for many years with the Antrim Fire Department, often serving alongside family members.
A true outdoorsman, Gary's love of camping, fishing, and trapping defined much of his life. He spent countless hours exploring the woods and waters of New Hampshire, particularly in Pittsburg and Lake Winnipesaukee. His post-retirement years were marked by his creative work documenting these adventures, earning him the nickname “The Video Fisherman.” In collaboration with NH Fish and Game, he produced video content that celebrated the sport of fishing and the beauty of New Hampshire’s landscapes. Whether ice fishing in winter or trolling in summer, Gary’s passion was infectious and inspiring.
Gary was also a proud and loyal Red Sox fan, rarely seen without his signature Red Sox jacket. One of his most cherished stories was the time he hit golf balls against Carl Yastrzemski at the Prudential Center—and won.
Above all, Gary was a family man. He is survived by his son Terry Cutter and wife Shelley, and his daughter Tracey Cutter Rego and husband George. He was a devoted grandfather to Chelsea Haidul (Chris), Matthew Telles, Nicholas Telles, Tucker Cutter (Reilly), and Kaitlyn Schoeneman. In recent years, he embraced the role of great-grandfather with joy, welcoming Wren Haidul, Jack Haidul, and Josie Cutter. He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Diane (Cutter) Sizemore and her husband Hop, as well as his cherished niece and nephew, Mark Sizemore (Ellen) and Cyndi Ciolino (Dom).
Gary was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Gwen Cutter and a son Dale, but his memory lives on through the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 27, 2025, in honor of what would have been Gary’s 90th birthday. Details will be shared with family and friends when finalized. Please send donations in memory of Gary Cutter to NH Fish & Game, Inland Fisheries Division, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH 03301. In the Memo section of the check, please write In Memory Gary Cutter, Inland Fisheries Division.
Gary Cutter’s legacy is one of kindness, resilience, humor, and a deep reverence for the natural world. He will be missed deeply and remembered always—with a fishing pole in hand, a story to tell, and a Red Sox game playing in the background.
