Gary “Sully” Sullivan, 59, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Weare, New Hampshire.

Gary was born on May 4, 1966, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to Julie Sullivan-Haley and Michael Sullivan Jr. He grew up in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and spent much of his life there, developing many lifelong friendships.

Gary was a kind soul, with a big heart that matched his beautiful smile. He was always there for a friend or even a stranger in need. He was a fierce and loving protector of the people he cared about. Gary was a hard-working man who took great pride in everything he did. He had many talents, including building beautiful landscaping, masonry stonework, as well as numerous paving projects while employed by John Wolfe Paving.

From the time Gary could walk, he was tinkering around with cars and covered in grease. He did everything from changing oil to full motor swaps to building cars from scratch. He did it all. He loved racing cars and participated in many races in New Hampshire, including the infamous “demolition derbies,” which he particularly enjoyed. He loved being by the ocean and taking long rides on his motorcycle, where he felt the most freedom and peace. Gary will be deeply missed by his family and friends, as well as all those who knew and loved him.

Gary is survived by his daughter Kristen Cochran and his two grandchildren, Addison and Landon. His brother, Michael J. Sullivan III and his wife Ann, his sister, Kathleen Sullivan, with whom he shared a special bond, his sister Sharon Costin Vancoppenolle and her husband Dan. Gary also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Gary was predeceased by his mother, Julie Sullivan-Haley; his father, Michael J. Sullivan Jr.; his siblings, Donald and Cynthia Sullivan; and his nephews, Michael Merritt and John Michael Sullivan.

A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held and announced at a later date.

Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Manchester.
