Gavin R. Guay, 30, died Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in the comfort of this fathers home in Concord. He was born on September 16, 1991, in Concord to Randy Guay and Mary Lou Cook. Gavin was a lifelong resident of Concord and graduated from Concord High School in 2010. Gavin was an active member of the CHS Ski Jumping team and competed in the Empire Games Lake Placid, NY. After high school he worked as a ski Instructor at Ragged Mountain for many years. Gavin was happiest in the mountains skiing, boarding or jumping. He enjoyed playing golf and working with his hands. Gavin was funny, warm hearted, kind and resilient. He did not have a mean bone in his body. Prior to his passing Gavin was sober for four months. He battled addiction hard every day of his adult life. For others struggling with substance abuse disorder, know that there are so many families like ours, who have lost someone to this disease that are praying and rooting for you. We believe with all our hearts that you can and will make it. It is never too late. Remember that every breath is a fresh start. We would like to thank all those who helped Gavin along the way, especially his family, friends and the various counselors and sponsors including the folks at The Resource Center, the Friendly Kitchen and the Next Level Church. Gavin is survived and will be missed by his mother Mary Lou Cook, his father Randy Guay and his partner Luan Giannone, his former stepmom Laura Steenbeke and his sisters Sara and Sophie Guay. Gavin is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, longtime friends and his beloved dog Fenway. Gavin was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Larry “Bumpa” and Claire Guay and his maternal Grandparents Joe and Barbara Cook. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 11am to 1 pm, Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King Street, Boscawen NH 03303. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Friendly Kitchen, 2 South Commercial Street, Concord NH 03301 or The Resource Center at 177 N Main Street Concord NH 03301.
