Gene A. Friedman

Gene Andrew Stodel Friedman, 85, of Nashua, NH died February 16 at home. A decorated B-17 bombardier in WWII and ex-POW, Lt. Friedman was shot down over France. A graduate of Syracuse in 1949, he was an insurance broker for 35 years in NJ. Survived by his devoted wife of 55 years , Jean Dudley Weeks; his children, Del Friedman and wife Stephanie Cox Suarez of Acton, MA, Wendy Friedman and husband James Jauchem of San Antonio, TX, and Robert Friedman and wife Robin of Martinsville, NJ; brothers, Jack and wife Jane of Lynnfield, MA, Alan of West Haven, CT, and Noel and wife Dora of Merrimack, NH. Predeceased by Sister Anne (Mrs. Roy) Carlson. Survived by devoted grandchildren: Marissa and Sara Friedman and Sophia and Samuel Suarez-Friedman. Gene was the eldest son of Eugene and Esther Friedman of West Haven, CT. In addition to family he leaves his "boys," WWII veterans, Charlie Vaughn, Peter Fleming and the late Rob O'Kane and Walter Lang. Gene had fond memories of his summers at Camp Robin Hood in Freedom, NH and with Jean traveled the world visiting more than 110 countries. A remembrance ceremony will be held at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Concord, MA on Sunday, March 16 at 2:00. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy or Planned Parenthood.
