George J. Blanchette, 78, of Manchester died June 26, 2005 at Catholic Medical Center following a sudden illness. Mr. Blanchette was born on October 10, 1926 in Manchester the son of Alfred and Sarah (Regean) Blanchette. He received his GED through the Navy and went on to serve his country for over 25 years. He retired from the US Navy in 1967 after serving in the Pacific Theatre of World War II and the Korean Conflict. George was employed at Acme Window Cleaning and then worked as a rigger for L. P. Cote Riggers where he retired after 20 years. He traveled extensively throughout his life with both the military and his family. He was a member of the Sweeney Post Color Guard and enjoyed attending their dances. IN HIS LIFE: George was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Pauline (Fortuna) Blanchette who died February 13, 1995. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Alfred Blanchette and Lionel Blanchette. George had eight grandchildren, Kevin Picknell, Daniel Picknell, Matthew Blanchette, Kelsey Picknell, Katie Blanchette, Hillary Picknell, Ian Barclay and Patrick Barclay. Family members include; his long time loving companion, Ellie Piotrowski; two sons, Steven Blanchette of Concord and Randy Blanchette of Manchester and Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Karen Picknell of Hillsborough and Jodi Barclay of Manchester; eight grandchildren; one nephew; and a cousin. There will be a Memorial Reception of Thursday, June 30th from 9:00 until 9:30 AM with a Memorial Service at 9:30 AM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire (an affiliate of Phaneuf Funeral Home), 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. Burial will follow at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
