George Gordon Calder, 79, of Contoocook, died peacefully surrounded by family at Hospice House on February 1, 2017.
George was born in Sacramento, CA on August 9, 1937, son of Reese Lane Calder and Clare Drysdale Calder. He grew up in northern California and graduated from California State University, Sacramento. He began his career as an HR administrator working in Sacramento, Los Angeles and Reno. He moved with his family to New Hampshire in 1980, and retired as the VP, Human Resources at Concord Hospital in 1999. He is remembered for his love of family, commitment to community, and appreciation of storytelling and healthy debate. He was a dedicated golfer and a devoted fan of his children and grandchildren â never missing a game.
George is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy (Candon) Calder of Contoocook, son Joe Calder (Jen) of Driggs, ID, daughter Sue Calder Melvin (Mark) of Windham, daughter Rebecca Calder (Tim Nugent) of Southampton, NJ and grandchildren, Bode Calder, Kenna and Cooper Melvin, and Eli, Faye, Jack, Gabe and Anna Nugent. He is also survived by his brother Bob Calder (Nadine) of Carmichael, CA and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Sue Calder Jansen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 11th at 1 pm at Concord Country Club. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his name may be made to CRVNA Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord NH 03301.
