George Fredrick Chapman, 82 of Bristol, NH formerly of Bridgewater, NH and Stowe, Ma, died October 21, 2004 at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, NH after a long debilitating illness. He was born March 19, 1922 in Perry, Ohio and was the son of Benjamin and Elsie (Bauch) Chapman. IN HIS LIFE: He was predeceased by sister, Esther Fisher and brother-in-law The Rev. Clinton Fisher U.S. Army Chaplain and was also predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and Robert. His sister Doris Slocomb, wife of Jack, predeceased lives in Ohio. Georges sister, Grace and her husband, the Rev. Carl Shearer live in Georgia. Georges sister-in-law, Janet also lives in Ohio. George was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Irene (Blanchard) Chapman who died in 1992, after over 50 years of marriage. George and Irene had two children, Dennis Chapman of Belmont, NH and his wife Barbara and Cheryl (Chapman) Wright and her husband Martin of Lunenburg, MA. Georges grandchildren include Todd, Paul, Kristan, Matthew and Michael. He also leaves step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. His second wife Pattricia (Hadley) Chapmans grandchildren were also a great pleasure to him along with his own grandchildren. George enjoyed his life long work as a machinist and phototype model and diemaker. Through a kind cupid named Sheila, George met Wayne Hadleys widow Patricia in Bristol, NH in 1993. They were married in a historic old town hall meetinghouse church on Bridgewater Hill in Bridgewater, NH. George and Pat enjoyed the senior life helping out and attending senior centers in Bristol, Plymouth and Danbury. They enjoyed their busy life with their senior friends. George was a member of the Baker/Pemi Senior Club. With great gusto George attended many senior functions. George was always proud to say that he served in the U.S. Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He survived the sinking of his ship, The U.S. Mine Sweeper, U.S.S. Noah in 1944. At Georges request, there will be no calling hours. The celebration of Georges life will be at a memorial service to be held Sunday, November 14th at 3:00 p.m. at the Hebron Union Congregational Church situated on the Village Green in the beautiful town of Hebron, NH with The Rev. John Fischer, as celebrant. Please in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the George Minot-Cavis Post 26, American Legion, 34 Spring Street, Bristol, NH 03222. The Union Church is accessible to the mobility impaired persons.
