George Earl Duffey Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. He was born on February 27, 1950, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was a devoted son to his mother, Norma Jean Duffey, and a loving brother to his six siblings. Growing up in Bridgeport, George was an admired figure among his cousins and those in the courtyard. He embraced the values of being a friendly neighbor and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
George was proud to serve as a U.S. Navy Corpsman from 1968 to 1972. During that time, he deployed to Vietnam with a Marine Corps unit and received the Navy Achievement Medal with the Combat "V" device. Before leaving for Vietnam, George promised his sister’s best friend, Nancy Inman, that if he made it back, he would marry her. He kept that promise, and George and Nancy were happily married for nearly 54 years. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Melisa and Kathleen. George loved his wife deeply while taking immense pride in his girls.
A few years after returning from the war, George and Nancy moved to Northfield, New Hampshire, where he worked at the State Hospital in Concord for 13 years. He placed great value on education and had a passion for sports, becoming active in his children’s athletics as a local softball coach. Later in life, he served as a substitute teacher for the Winnisquam Regional School District.
George was a man people gravitated toward, often regarded as a second father by many. Those who knew him would often say that when you were around George there always accompanied a good story. His beloved sense of humor and quick, memorable witticisms—often shared as lessons or truths—will always be remembered. As an Aphorist, George left many imprints throughout his life for all those who crossed his path. Truly one of a kind, some say legend.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Duffey; his sisters, Linda Semons, Ione Kale, Sharon Antenucci; and his brother, Timothy Duffey. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Duffey; his daughters Melisa Duffey and her partner, Scott Pelletier, from Franklin, NH, and Kathleen Duffey and her wife, Toby McIntire, from Hampton, NH; his sister, Colleen Blados, and her husband, Edwin Blados; his sister, Trudy Norko, and her husband, Paul Norko; as well as many beloved cousins and 25 nieces and nephews, who cherish their memories of him from across the country.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
