George Gendron

George Alexander Gendron, 99, of Londonderry, NH passed away after a period of failing health on July 2, 2022.  He was born December 26, 1922, at a family farm on Green Mt. Road in Claremont NH, the son of Alexander L. and Mary Louise (Chartier) Gendron.

George graduated from Claremont’s Stevens High in 1941 and was a Navy veteran of World War 2 and the Korean conflict honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer in 1951.  He enrolled at UNH after WW2 and went on to employment with Joy Manufacturing of Claremont, NH, advancing to various engineering and technical managerial support positions over a period of 20 years.  He then moved onto other opportunities and held Plant Manager and Special Project Manager positions with Moore Business Forms, Inc.  before retiring in 1984.

George participated in various civic activities including the Claremont Garden Club and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 38 during the 8 years his sons were active. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling while visiting family and touring the many landmark sites throughout the US.

While attending UNH, he was introduced to his roommate’s sister, Doris Lauziere, the love of his life for almost 50 years.

George is survived by six of his eight children: Michael Gendron and wife Patricia of Madison, Ohio, Richard Gendron and wife Pamela of Cornish, NH, Martha (Longa) and husband Raymond of Londonderry, NH, Patricia (Sokel) and husband Richard of Tewksbury, MA, Timothy Gendron and wife Susan of Danville, VA, and Thomas Gendron of Scottsdale, AZ; sixteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister, Rita Parent.

From humble beginnings, George aspired and was successful in many fields of endeavors both in the work and family environments. Raising and supporting a large family took two very strong parents. They did this with love and an instillment of respect for all, hard work and self-reliance wrapped within strong ethical values.

George was predeceased by his wife, Doris Jeannette (Lauziere) Gendron; his sons, David and Andrew; and sisters, Jeanette Fortin, Florine Cote, and Edna Mayo.

The family is grateful for the care he received from Home Health and Hospice Care, Veteran’s Health Administration/VA Home Based Primary Care and Sevita Healthcare.

ARRANGEMENTS: There will be a Mass of Celebration at St. Joseph’s Church in Claremont, NH at a later date.  There will be no calling hours per George’s wishes.  A private burial will be held in the early fall at the South Buxton Cemetery, West Buxton, Maine.
