George R. Gill, 81, of Hooksett died on April 2, 2004 at Catholic Medical Center following a long illness. Mr. Gill was born on August 16, 1922 in Manchester, the son of the late Toussaint and Alice (Paquin) Gill and resided in Manchester and Hooksett. He was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church in Hooksett. Mr. Gill attended Manchester schools and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy with 4 years of active service in No. Aftrica and Europe. He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood. At the time of his retirement, he was employed by St. Anselm College. Mr. Gill enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, and traveling. He also enjoyed playing organ music which he studied for some years. He traveled extensively in Europe, the U.S., and Canada, having spent winters in So. California for 14 years until his illness. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family includes his wife Therese (Noel) Gill of 57 years; 4 daughters, Mrs. Fred (Jacqueline) Buttrick of Auburn, Suzanne Felde of Manchester, Mrs. Paul (Madeline) Costa of Deerfield, and Mrs. Mike (Claudette) Benoit of Londonderry; one son, Larry and Cathy Gill of Renton, WA; 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 5 great grand-children; two brothers, Maurice Gill of Manchester, NH and Rev. Paul Gill of Cherry Valley, CA; nieces and nephews; one aunt and uncle, Paul and Laurea Paquin. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Main Street, in Hooksett, NH. There will be no calling hours.
