It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. George Joseph Gordon, a resident of Hudson, New Hampshire, announces his passing, on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the age of 80 years, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Gordon was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 26, 1937, the son of the late Dorothy Gould.
George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Gordon, and his four children, Albert Kane and his wife Denise, Kelly Patnaude and her husband Jeff, Maureen Moulton and her husband Jim, and George Gordon Jr. He will be missed by his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Debbie Kane, and his brother John Gordon.
George joined the U.S. Army in 1955, and he was very proud of his military service as an Army Medic attached to the 10th Infantry Division. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1958, after attaining the rank of Private First Class.
He formerly owned and operated Chelmsford Traffic Markings and was well known for his experience as a painting contractor, throughout New England. For many years, he had the honor of painting the finish line for the Boston Marathon.
George was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending his free time on the local golf courses, with his Grandson, Michael Moulton, and his many friends. He was also a member of the Lowell Senior Center and was always up for a challenging game of pool.
In keeping with the wishes of George, there will be a private military service, for his immediate family, at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery.
