George Hamilton, 89, of Henniker, NH, passed away on July 18, 2024. Born on April 27, 1935 in St. Petersburg, FL, he was a devoted husband to Carol and a loving father to Bob, Bonni, Natalie, Rachel and Jerry.
Dad was hard-working and dedicated to his profession. He spent 35 years working at New England College as the Director of Athletics, Professor of Kinesiology and Coach of many sports. He was a tough, but fair teacher, a demanding but compassionate coach to his student athletes. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.
Though Dad may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was kind, generous and competitive and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Dad's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed exercising, golfing, chopping wood and knitting prayer shawls. He spent weekends refereeing, soaking up the sun and being active in the church. His love for camping and eating ice cream was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.
George is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol Butler Hamilton, children Robert Hamilton (Tracy), Bonni Hamilton (Michael), Natalie Cronkhite (Bill), Rachel Hamilton, Jerry Hamilton (Mary Ann), 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 27 at 10am at the Congregational Church of Henniker. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Granite VNA Hospice.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
