George Holloway

George Herbert Holloway Sr., 83, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua NH. He was the loving husband of 63 years to Annette (Gingue) Holloway, of Nashua NH, who survives him.

George was born in Lancaster, NH, son of Herbert Holloway and Mattie (Lamotte) Holloway, on July 12, 1933. He served in the U.S. Army and was a long-time saw operator for National Northeast Corporation. He had been retired for 20 years. He and his wife Annette married on August 8, 1953 in Lunenburg, VT. Together, they have spent more than six decades raising their family and enjoying each other's company every single day.

George was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children and wife. Loyal to the core, George especially enjoyed taking daily walks with his wife of 63 years around their neighborhood and playing daily games of Yahtzee together. He and his wife were extremely close and enjoyed each other's company. In his younger years, he was an avid candlepin bowler as a member of local leagues, and spent his spare time playing softball, baseball and street hockey. He was also known to take in a competitive game or two of 45s, poker and cribbage at family gatherings.

As the father of five, George and his family vacationed multiple seasons at the beach and took long road trips to visit family in Vermont where outings usually involved games of horseshoes.

One of his favorite pastimes was going out to eat with his family, particularly if it involved his favorite foods hot dogs or banana splits. He was also a big baseball fan whose greatest joy was watching the NY Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox on TV. A dedicated father, husband and friend, he will be missed by so many.

Surviving him, besides his wife, are his children Jerry Holloway and wife Melanie Holloway of Derry NH; Judy Dube of Methuen MA; George Holloway Jr. of Haverhill MA; Kathy Switser of Lyndonville VT; and Sally Holloway of Manchester NH; and sister Shirley Porter. He leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. George is predeceased by his parents, his sister Mildred Wood and brother Raymond Holloway.
