George Krasner, MD, 90, of 77 Larchmont Road, died November 18, 2002, at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn New York on March 9, 1912, the son of the late David G. and Polly (Sundock) Krasner and had been a resident of Manchester. Dr. Krasner received his college degree at New York University and his medical degree at the University of Basil in Switzerland. He was chief radiologist for the Veteran Medical Center from 1950,when the department opened, and retired as chief radiologist in 1976. He was a Board Certified Radiologist. Upon his retirement as Chief Radiologist of the VA Hospital, Dr. Krasner received the Outstanding Career Award from the Veteran Administration National Office. He served on the Child and Family Services of New Hampshire Manchester Regional Office Board of Directors for several years, serving as president in 1975. George was President of the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union Foundation. When the League of Women Voters opened itself to male membership, he was one of the first men to join the Manchester Chapter. Dr. Krasner enjoyed woodworking, silversmithing and playing first clarinet with the Boston (Ma.) Doctors' Symphony. He was founder and president on the Board of Citizens for Better Education and served on the Board of Granite State Credit Union. Family members include his wife of 61 years, Alice (Doress) Krasner of Manchester, two sons, Michael Krasner of Westminister, Vermont and Emmanuel Krasner of Farmington, NH, a daughter, Dorothy Krasner of Manchester, four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
