George E. Prentiss

George E. Prentiss – Fitzwilliam, NH Age 79, of Fitzwilliam died Thursday October 6th at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Ipswich, MA on April 15, 1926, the Son of Walter and Myra (Parsons) Prentiss. He attended Ipswich schools and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During WWII he served in the North Atlantic, and during the Korean War, he had served in the Mediterranean. He was a member of VFW Post 10289 in Fitzwilliam and the American Legion Post 0193 in Winchendon, MA. Mr. Prentiss retired from Bladwinville Products of Baldwinville, MA. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, but he especially loved watching his grandsons; Matthew and Brian Alejandro play basketball and baseball. Survivors include his wife, Edith (Meattey) Prentiss of Fitzwilliam. Son Michael of Fitzwilliam. Daughter and Son in law Christina and William Weston of Ringe, NH. Sister Ruth Leet of Ipswich, MA. Brother Robert Prentiss of Danvers, MA. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Linda Sawyer of Gloucester, MA. And a Sister, Marjorie Niland of Salem, MA. Graveside Services will be conducted on Thursday October 13th at 11:00 AM at Pine Grove Cemetery on Royalston Road in Fitzwilliam.
