GEORGE E. PRUSIA, 85 of 99 Clinton St, Concord, NH died Aug 9, 2007 at the Harris Hill Nursing Home, Concord, NH after a long illness. Born in Concord, NH to Alvin & Ethel (Brown) Prusia on June 4, 1922, the oldest son & child of seven. He spent part of his young childhood growing up in Bow, NH; the family moved to Iowa where he later graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa June 1940. After graduation he returned to Bow where he later enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served aboard the Destroyer Escort Greenwood during WWII until his discharge in 1946. Through his life he worked for the B & M Railroad, Breznner Tanning and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1985. In November 1953 he married Bernice “Toots” Warriner and they shared their lives together with friends and family He spent his entire life as a supporter and activist for the veteran. He was a member and twice past Commander of the American Legion Post 37 Hooksett, current member of the American Legion Post 21 Concord, and a 62 year member of the American Legion, member for 47 year of the 40& 8 and past Grand Chef de Gare, past state chairman of the 40 & 8 Child Welfare Program, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars # 1631, Charter member of the National World War II Museum. In his spare time he had enjoyed bowling, baseball, snowmobiling and hunting. He is survived by 3 sisters: Maureen Foote of Pike, NH ; Sheila Jaquith of Boscawen, NH ; Lucy Warriner of Lebanon, NH, 2 brothers: Winton Prusia of Bow, NH and Elton Prusia of Reidsville, NC, 3 god children and many nieces and nephews He is predeceased by his wife of 52 years Bernice “Toots” Prusia who died in 2006. IN HIS LIFE: He was predeceased by a brother Alvin Dean Prusia. Graveside services will be held at the Evans Cemetery, Bow Saturday August 18th at noon followed by a luncheon at the Contoocook American Legion.
