George Robert Stewart

George R. Stewart, 91, of Manchester, NH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 11, 2021. Born in Manchester, NH on February 1, 1930, he was the son of the late Roy B. and M. Frances (Salls) Stewart. He graduated Manchester West High school in 1948, and soon after enlisted in the Navy reserve, and then the Navy, and spent three years on the USS Shadwell. When he returned from the service, he worked for his father in Stewart Trucking, and later partnered with his father and brother to form Truk-Away, a rubbish disposal company they built and had three locations in Maine, New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. He enjoyed sports all his life and played many in high school. Later in life, he became an avid carom billiards player. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanne (Longfellow) Stewart, a daughter, Holly Cote and husband David, of Goffstown, his son's Keith Stewart of Manchester, and Russell Stewart and wife, Laura, of Dunbarton, as well as five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. George was predeceased by his brother, Roy Stewart of Bedford, NH.
