George E. Strickland, 82, a resident of the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, died November 21, 2003 at the Franklin Regional Hospital. George was born and raised in Lincoln on January 18, 1921 the son of the late Edward and Mary (Pollard) Strickland. He worked in the Lincoln Woods as a Scaler until he joined the US Army. He fought in WW II. And saw action in the Pacific Campaign. George worked for Frank W. Whitcomb for 32 years. He was an active member of The American Legion Post #83. Family members include; his wife of 53 years, Priscilla M. (Gahagan) Strickland of Lincoln;, 2 daughters, Debbi and her husband SGM Allan T. Ward of Campton and Faith Clark of Lincoln; 3 grandchildren, Michael Ward of Plymouth, and Grant and Liam Clark of Lincoln; 2 great grandchildren, Rachel and Aidan Ward; a brother Henry Strickland of Lincoln; and a sister Evelan Conn of Lincoln. There will be a Celebration of George's Life at the American Legion Post # 83 Lincoln NH on Saturday November 29th from 1:00 until 4.:00 PM.
