Gerald H. Thompson, Sr., 68, of Belmont died on July 13, 2004 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a period of declining health. Mr. Thompson was born on March 8, 1936 in Hackensack, New Jersey, the son of the late David and Pearl (Rose) Thompson. He was a proud U. S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a self employed painting contractor in Texas where he spent 20 years. Ten years ago he retired to New Hampshire to be close to his family. He enjoyed cooking, baking, and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching NASCAR and the New York METS. His family members include; three sons, Gerald Thompson, Jr. of Laconia, Daniel Thompson of Chesapeak, Virginia, and Will Thompson of Laconia; one daughter, Elizabeth Hemkes of Budd Lake, New Jersey; two grandchildren; two brothers, George Thompson of Midland Park, NJ, and Jack Thompson of Texas; several nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Reception form 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Saturday July 17th with a Memorial Service at 11:00 at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. Burial will follow at St. Lambert Cemetery in Laconia, NH.
