Geraldine "Gerry" Bachelder

Geraldine (Armitage) Bachelder, 93, of Concord, NH departed this life on September 20, 2022, with her loved ones near.

Gerry was born in Arlington, MA, the third child of Frederick and Iris (Lamoreaux) Armitage.  

She married her high school sweetheart, Eliot Dean Bachelder, in 1948 in Swampscott, MA.  Shortly thereafter, they moved to Concord, and later Loudon, where they built their own beautiful home and continued to raise their family.  Gerry worked for several local area businesses, including Wilber's Hardware, where she was employed for 33 years, eventually retiring in 1997.

After the passing of her beloved husband, Eliot, in 2003, Gerry moved to White Rock Senior Living in Bow, where she was an active member of the community for nearly 15 years.  She subsequently moved to Granite Ledges of Concord in 2018.

Gerry was an extremely hard worker with boundless energy.  She had a passion for working outdoors where she could be close to adorable critters and feathered friends.  Among her favorites to watch were cardinals, hummingbirds, raccoons and chipmunks.  She enjoyed picking strawberries and blueberries when in season; and working on jigsaw and search-a-word puzzles in the colder months.

In addition to her husband, Gerry was predeceased by her brother, Donald Armitage in 2004, and her sister Phyllis (Armitage) Sweeney in 2006.

Surviving family includes: one son, Stephen Bachelder of Webster, NH; and two daughters, Dale Bachelder of Concord, NH, and Amy (Bachelder) Delaney of Palm City, FL; four grandchildren: Melissa Bachelder of Manchester, NH; Jennifer (Bachelder) Weston of Webster, NH; Heather (McNichols) Erickson of Big Lake, MN; and Aaron Longchamps of Port Saint Lucie, FL; and five great-grandchildren: Colin, Staci, Eliana, August and Camden.

There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord-Merrimack County.

Assisting with arrangements is the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Boscawen.
