New Boston â Geraldine M. Pierce, 81, passed away with her son by her side on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Maple Leaf Nursing Home, in Manchester after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer-Dementia disease.
Born in Manchester on January 16, 1936, she was the daughter of Clifford and Beatrice (Bonnin) Pierce.
After graduating from West High School, Jeri, as she was known to family and friends worked at the Manchester City Library. She went on to graduate from Hesser College with a degree in Accounting and later a degree in Business Management from the School for Life Long Learning. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Federated Arts of Manchester and the local Manchester Dunkin Donuts Franchisee.
Jeri had a passion for books, reading, and the arts. She was a talented painter who enjoyed toll and antique decorative painting. She enjoyed photography, writing, but most of all reading. Along her life's journey she fulfilled a dream of owning and operating a book store, Mystic River Books in Mystic CT from 1986 to 1991. After returning to NH to be near her grandchildren she worked in property management in the Manchester and Portsmouth/Dover areas. She was a licensed Real Estate Broker in NH and Maine. Jeri loved the ocean and enjoyed living along the seashore in York Beach Maine from 1996 to 2006.
Throughout her life Jeri always remained committed to those that needed a helping hand and was an active volunteer for many charitable groups and foundations. She was dedicated to helping people with disabilities and was a past President of the Moore Center in Manchester NH, and Treasurer of the Mystic (Ct) Chamber of Commerce.
Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother who cherished time spent with her family.
Family members include her son Clifford R. Plourde and his wife Lisa J. Plourde of New Boston, NH; Three grandchildren, Kenneth B. Plourde of Flaxville, MT, Emmett K Plourde of Plymouth, NH and Christine R. Plourde of New Boston, NH; Sister-in-laws Barbara Roy and Gloria Plourde; Nephew and nieces; David Roy, MD; Carla (Roy) Berry, Kathleen (Pierce) Pasko, Laura (Pierce) Gilman and Karen (Pierce) Morin. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth R. Plourde in 1988, and her brother Richard Pierce in 1987.
A Memorial Gathering for Jeri will be held at the Cremation Society of NH, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester, NH on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 10:00 â 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM . A private memorial service will be held this summer at York Beach, Maine.
