Germaine "Jimi" Joyce, 85, of Whitefield (Warner), New Hampshire, passed away on August 13, 2026, after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease. Born on May 15, 1941, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Harvey Joyce and Dorothy Joyce (Gaudette), Germaine lived a life defined by warmth, generosity, and an infectious spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Germaine grew up in a large and loving family, surrounded by siblings who shaped her early years and remained close to her heart throughout her life. She eventually made her home in New Hampshire, where she built a career with the State of New Hampshire spanning more than twenty years. Her colleagues and those she served knew her as someone who approached her work with dedication and genuine care for others.

Those who knew Jimi best would speak of three qualities above all else: she loved to laugh, she loved to help, and she loved to listen. These simple yet profound traits made her a steadfast friend, a trusted confidante, and the kind of person others naturally gravitated toward. She had a gift for making people feel heard and valued, offering both her time and her heart without hesitation.

Outside of work, Germaine found her greatest joy in the natural world. She was an avid gardener who delighted in coaxing beauty from the earth, and she treasured any opportunity to be outdoors. She was also a skilled quilter, creating handmade works that carried her love and artistry into the homes of family and friends. Her adventurous spirit led her on memorable travels to both Alaska and Canada, journeys she cherished deeply.

Germaine is survived by her three daughters, Denise Hofmann (Laware), Deana Laware, and Teresa DeSantis (Laware); her brother, William Joyce; and her sister, Janice Green (Joyce) and her five grandchildren, Jacob Laware, Kristofer Laware, Cameron Laware, Joseph Keebler and Megan Keebler. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jewell, parents, Harvey and Dorothy Joyce, and her sisters Anne Kelly (Joyce), Judy Joyce, and Mary Jane Komisarek (Joyce).

A graveside service will be held at New Waterloo Cemetery on Route 103 in Warner, New Hampshire, on Thursday September 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow at 104 Poverty Plains Road, Warner, New Hampshire. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Jimi to join them in celebrating her remarkable life.
