Glendon Varney Morse

Glendon Varney Morse, 91, formerly of Rochester, NH, died November 15, 2000, at Concord Hospital of congestive heart failure. Mr. Morse was born in Mercer, ME, a son of Carlton W. And Maude E. (Varney) Morse, attended Mercer schools and the Brooklyn Engineering Institute, New York. On June 22, 1933, he married the former Belle Alice Tracy. He worked for the F.E. McLeary Co. Farmington, ME, 1930-1942 and for Rochester Motor Sales, 1944-1969, both Ford dealerships and for the Bath Iron Works, Bath, ME, 1942-1944. Following his retirement in 1969 he wintered in Punta Gorda, FL. He was a long-time member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rochester, NH. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed antiques, coins and traveling. He was predeceased by a brother, The Rev. Valton V. Morse of Cumberland Ctr., ME, March 25, 2000. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Belle Tracy Morse, two daughters, Elizabeth Morse O'Donnell of Raymond, NH, and Marilyn Morse Colby of Wilder Village in the Township of Hartford, VT; four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2000, in the Havenwood Auditorium, 33 Christian Ave., Concord, NH. A memorial service at a yet to be determined date will be held at the First Methodist Church, Rochester, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the First Methodist Church of Rochester, NH or Havenwood-Heritage Heights of Concord, NH.
