Gordon Bartlett Belknap County Commissioner, dies at 80 Mr. Gordon Bartlett, 80, of Belmont, died Friday September 8, 2006 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. Born in Springfield, MA on April 24, 1926 the son of the late Frank and Annabelle (Lyons) Bartlett. He attended Tilton School in Tilton, NH. He attended Babson College for 3 years. He worked as a Machine Tool Salesman throughout New England. Mr. Bartlett was also a car salesman for Manter Olds Pontiac in Laconia, NH. He served as Executive Director at the Republican Party Headquarters for 4 years, 1 year as Liquor Commissioner and 16 years from 1990-2004 in NH Legislature. He was also on the Gilford Police Department for 16 years. He also was involved with the New Hampshire International Speedway from 1990-2006. Mr. Barlett was also chairman of the Belknap County Delegation and Belknap County Commissioner from 2004 to 2006. Mr. Bartlett served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 1670 and the American Legion Post 1 in Laconia, NH. Mr. Bartlett was an avid race car fan and New England sports fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha (Mansir) Bartlett of Belmont; daughter, Joanne and her husband Mike Smith of Belmont; 3 grandchildren, Erica and her husband Skip Watson, Stacey and her husband Joseph Riley and Corey Smith all of Belmont; 3 great grandsons, Cody and Hunter Watson and Austin Riley; cousins and lots and lots of friends. There are no calling hours. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm at the State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
