Graham passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born in Birmingham, England to Leonard and Ivy (MacDonald) Meddings. After school, he went to work for the Newey Brothers Factory in Birmingham where his father worked. In 1959 his family came to the states to open a Newey Brother Factory in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, that his father would manage while Graham was in charge of keeping the machines up and running.
One day Graham walked into Kelley the Florist where he saw Patricia Kelley. He said to his friend that one day he was going to marry that girl. After marriage, he worked as a manager for Prescott Lumber, Garrity Lumber, and Whitfield Hardware, before opening Hobby Land. After the closing of Hobby Land in 1979, he worked as a manager of the Central Building until it closed.
Graham was a longtime member of the St. Johnsbury Jaycees and the Littleton Lions Club. He was the treasurer of the Littleton Methodist Church for many years. He loved to travel and had a huge love of lighthouses. He belonged to NELL, New England Lighthouse Lovers, with whom he took lots of trips. He was a dedicated supporter of the Weathervane Theatre, serving on their board for a time.
He is predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Ivy Meddings, his beloved wife of 55 years, Patricia Meddings, and his daughter, Kathleen Meddings of Whitefield. He is survived by his brother, Geoff Meddings and his wife, Ann of Dudley, England, his daughter, Deborah Meddings of Littleton, NH, his niece, Barbara Hawkins and her husband, Edward, his nephew, Mark Meddings, two great-nieces and two great-nephews all of Dudley, England. He is also survived by two "adopted" daughters, Ginger Going of Springfield, VT, Karen Thompson of Groveton, and three "adopted" granddaughters, Virginia, Audrey, and Lili. He will also be missed by his sweet beagle named Lucy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church of Littleton, NH or the Weathervane Theatre of Whitefield, NH.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Inn at Whitefield on April 26th beginning at noon.
