Gwendolyn D. (Carpenter) Farrow

Gwendolyn (Carpenter) Farrow passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 10, 1934 in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of Harold and Freda (Strobel) Carpenter, the youngest of five children.  She was extremely proud of her German heritage and equally as proud to be an American.

Known by her friends as Gwen or Gwennie, she proudly graduated from West High School in 1952.

She worked at the Telephone Company as a telephone operator for over 40 years.  Her family often joked with her that she would talk to a wrong number for 20 minutes because she had the gift of gab.

Gwen loved:  cooking delicious meals for her family, believing that “food is love;” going to the ocean; attending her children’s sporting events; playing games with her family; listening to country music; gardening; interacting with babies and children; spending time not only with her own dogs, but the dogs of others as well (she carried dog treats in her pockets).

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward Farrow; their two Shih Tzu’s, Tiffany and Suzie; her sister, Mildred March of Sherburne Falls, MA; her three daughters, Stacy Martin and her husband, Donald of Nashua; Rebecca Farrow of Goffstown; Melanie Gibson of Manchester; her sons, Dean Gibson and his wife, Theresa of Hampton; Dana Gibson and his wife, Debbie of Colorado; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Martin, Julianna Martin, Derek Labrie, Dustin Gibson, Kaitlyn Gibson, David Gibson, Mandilyn Gibson, Melissa Rios, Daniel Gibson, Scott Gibson; 9 great grandchildren; her best friend of 83 years, Shirley (Schmalfuss) Overby.

Gwen was predeceased by her two sons, Darryl Gibson; Gregory Farrow; her daughter, Kathleen Lyon; her grandson, Richard Craig Gibson.

Gwen’s family will be forever grateful for the care she received at Fairview Senior Living in Hudson as well as Home Health and Hospice Care of Merrimack.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rescue 22 Foundation (rescue22foundation.org).

SERVICES:  The family will have a Celebration of Life in early spring.
