Harold C. "Chub" Moore, Jr., 82, of Hancock, NH died suddenly at home on July 2, 2003. Mr. Moore was born on June 29, 1921 in West Medford, MA, son of the late Harold C. and Dorothy (Carroll) Moore, Sr. After graduating from Tabor Academy and Williams College in 1943, he served as a U S Navy Lieutenant on board the LST 246 as Gunnery Officer in the Pacific during World War II, participating in nine major invasions. After the war he was a wool merchant for Colonial Wool Company in Boston. He and Irene moved to Hancock 32 years ago from Wellesley, MA. Chub was an avid golfer and curler as a past member of Braeburn C.C. in West Newton, MA. He spent a lot of his free time volunteering at the Monadnock Community Hospital and for Meals on Wheels, and he enjoyed the weekly companionship of all his friends in the Old Crocks Club. Family members include; his wife of 57 years, Irene (Peacock) Moore; two sons, H. Clyde Moore III and his wife, Kerry, of Hancock, and Peter Moore and his wife, Schatze of Antrim; two daughters, Renee (Moore) Brooks and her husband Stephen, of Rehoboth, MA and Darcy (Moore) Feralio and her partner Glenn Nebee of Springtown, PA; seven grandchildren; Danielle (Moore) and Scott Kingsbury, Bradford Moore, Lily and S. Bonsal Brooks, Graham and Kelly Feralio, Tyler Feralio, and Molly Moore, and three great grandchildren; Lillian, Kevin, and Christopher. The Main Street of Hancock and his many friends will miss him greatly. A memorial celebration and thanksgiving service will be held on Saturday, July 26th, 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Hancock, NH. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the First Congregational Church of Hancock, Main Street, Hancock, NH 03449, in memory of Chub.
