Harold “Pat” Patten was born on August 11, 1951, in Manchester, NH, to Dennis and U. Martha (Terrill) Patten. After a long battle with Frontal Templar Dementia, Harold died at home on August 11, 2025, his 74th birthday, holding his wife’s hand.
Though he was born in Manchester, he grew up in Salisbury, NH, where he spent most of his life. In 1969, he graduated from Merrimack Valley High School, after which, he joined the US Marine Corps. After being injured in Vietnam, Harold was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Harold worked for many years as a master electrician, before returning to school to become an LPN. He also worked as a nursing supervisor and in many local nursing homes.
He was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox, and enjoyed watching many games with his dad.
He and his wife, Sue, loved riding around on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and in their many classic vehicles over the years. He also enjoyed spending time at their camp in Stratford, NH.
Harold leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Sue Patten; his dad, Dennis of Salisbury; son, Scott (Lauren) of FL; sister, Linda (Paul) of Gilmanton; niece, Sarah (Jamie) of Gilmanton; and various other family members and friends.
There will be a memorial service for Harold on Friday, August 22nd, at 9am at the Salisbury Congregational Church, followed by a burial at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In Lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to either Franklin VNA Hospice, or Salisbury Fire and Rescue Department, whom the family is deeply thankful to for all the wonderful care they have given to Harold.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Boscawen. To view Harold's Online Tribute, send condolences to the family, or for more information, visit www.csnh.com.
