Harry Edwin Crosby, 88, of Amherst, died May 17, 2009, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
Mr. Crosby was born in Port Maitland, Nova Scotia February 1, 1921, the son of Harry Eugene and Mildred Estella (Sollows) Crosby.
Harry was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Marines 3rd Division, 21st Company from June 6, 1942 to September 15, 1945. He participated in campaigns against enemy forces in Bougainville, Guam, Marianas Islands and Iwo Jima.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Mark David Crosby.
Family members include his wife of 49 years, Mary Jane Plett (Kimball) Crosby of Amherst; two sons, Gary A. Crosby of Whittier, North Carolina and Mark E. Crosby of Benton, Louisiana; three daughters, Kathe A. Pope and Robin L. Wakeland of Bradenton, Florida and Jeanne L. Guppy of Sanford, Florida; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one sister, Marguerite Gallant of Nashua, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no service. Private burial at the family lot in Wilton will be at a later date.
