Helen Irene (Gallant) Borisko of Haverhill, MA passed away Sunday evening in the care of her family, Hospice, and the Stevens-Bennett Home in Haverhill, MA.
Born in Enfield, CT she was the daughter of Beatrice (Gaudet) and Joseph Gallant and was the wife of the late John Borisko and they were married for 29 years and resided in Atkinson NH. She was a devoted catholic and a member of Holy Angels Parish Church for many years before moving to FL.
Helen worked many part time jobs over the years including working at Ornstein Heel and Shoe, New England Telephone Company as an operator, Wang Labs, and Braley and Walker Machinery. She was a homemaker and loved to bake for the family. She was also an active member of the Haverhill Country Club for over 25 years and was an avid golfer, tennis player, participated in the Swim Team organization, and thoroughly enjoyed relaxing by the pool. Once retiring, she settled in North Port FL where she loved going to the beach and became very active in her community while living at La Casa. She was a member of many clubs including the Bridge club, Stitching Club, Grandmothers club and also volunteered at San Pedro church as well as several charities. She was always eager to provide guided tours in the golf cart while volunteering at the Real Estate office of her gated community. She loved to travel, read novels, and tend to flowers in the garden but her strongest passions were decorating her home and playing 45's, Cribbage, Sets & Runs, and Spite and Malice. If the card games didn't include a wager of some sort, she would often say it wasn't worth her time to play!
She is survived by her son Jack Borisko and his wife Pamela of Atkinson NH; daughter Bonnie (Borisko) Griskevich Rawding and her husband Glenn Rawding of Newton, NH; her two grandchildren Andrew and Rachel Borisko. She is also survived by her two sisters Larette S. Gagne of Haverhill, MA; Marie Murphy of Hampstead, NH; and brother, John and wife Jan of Franklin, NC; and predeceased brother Joe Gallant of Nottingham, NH; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wants to especially thank the entire staff at Stevens-Bennett Home for their continuous support and care for Helen during the past 2 years.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00AM Friday October 23rd at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish located at 8 Atkinson Depot Rd. Plaistow NH with a luncheon to follow. A Private Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice located 360 Merrimack Street Building 9 Lawrence, MA 01843 in care of Merrimack Valley Hospice House of Haverhill, MA.
