Helen H. Pavlidis, 102, died December 24th, Christmas Eve, at home with family by her side, following a brief illness.
She was born on October 16, 1918 in Everett, Massachusetts, the daughter of Nicholas and Katherine Hranyotis. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Pavlidis and daughter Victoria.
A graduate of Everett (Ma.) High school, and following her marriage, she relocated to Manchester, working briefly in the city's mill yard, and following the birth of her 1st child, daughter Victoria, settled in as a Mom & homemaker.
The birth of her second child, George, in 1943 also saw her Husband "Tony" after being drafted, off to war. He participated in the Normandy invasion, (D+4) with the 30th Infantry Division, who would go on to liberate France, Belgium, & into Germany where he was wounded and subsequently returned stateside.
Helen was active in her church and in woman's activities there. An excellent cook, that included dishes, recipes, indigenous to her Greek heritage, as well as American cuisine. She and husband Tony would enjoy occasional winter getaways to Nassau in the Bahamas, & Montego Bay, Jamaica. Following her husband's passing she traveled to Greece on 2 occasions to connect with extended relatives, and visit the region her Father had emigrated from.
She was predeceased by husband Anthony in 1967, and daughter Victoria in 2003, her only sibling, Attorney Peter Otis, in 2009.
She is survived by her Son George Pavlidis, of Manchester, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 7 nephews and nieces.
No formal services will be held at this time in consideration of the pandemic. A private family gathering is planned for late spring.
