Henry "Mac" McKenney, 85, died peacefully on April 12, 2014 with family at his side.
He was born in Nashua on October 19, 1928 to Reuben and Theresa (Cummings) McKenney. Mac was raised, educated, and married in Nashua and later settled in Hudson, where he spent many years of his life. Upon retirement, he enjoyed his family at his home in Hebron, NH until recently when he moved to Derry, NH, where he spent the last few years of his life.
Mac proudly served in the US Navy for 20 years. Upon Navy retirement, he briefly worked for Rodgers Brothers Construction. He then worked in civil service at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a tradesman for twenty years. He ultimately retired in 1993.
Through the years, Mac belonged to many clubs and organizations including; Hudson Fish and Game Club, member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Hudson Snomen, American Legion, and the Hudson Lions Club. He was a handyman at heart and was happiest when he was building or fixing things in his workshop,
Members of his family include his beloved wife of 65 years, Gloria (Bouley) McKenney, of Derry, his four surviving children and their spouses: William and Cheryl McKenney of Gilford, Candace and Larry Morrison of Hebron, Allen and Sue McKenney of Hudson, Darryl and Lisa McKenney of Londonderry, his son-in-law, Jason Rogers of Southport, NC; eight grandchildren: Stacey Morrison of Glendale, Arizona, Justin and Evan McKenney of Hudson, Morgan and Shelby McKenney of Londonderry, and McKenna, Forbes, and Shaw Rogers of Southport, NC; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mac was predeceased by his daughter, Spring (McKenney) Rogers and grand-daughter, Crystal McKenney.
The services will be held at St. Kathryn's Church, in Hudson, NH, on Thursday April 17th at 10:00 am. Immediately following a committal service will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Hudson, NH. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org), or the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
