Henry N. Voudren, 91, of Concord, NH died May 4, 2008 at Pleasant View Center in Concord after a period of declining health. He was born on January 31, 1917 in West Springfield, MA the son of the late Henry W. and Grace (Bourdo) Voudren. Mr. Voudren served in the US Navy for 23 years. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1958. During his time in the navy he saw action in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was on the USS Benevolence, a hospital ship, which sunk off San Francisco, CA on August 25, 1950. After retiring from the Navy he went to work for Hamilton Standard a Division of United Technologies on January 6, 1958. He retired after 21 years in January of 1979. In his younger years, he was an Eagle Scout with bronze, silver, and gold palms, the highest scouting acheivements attainable. He was a boxer while in the Navy, boxing in the Pacific Fleet. Mr. Voudren was a member of the VFW, DAV and Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed gardening, coin collecting, was an avid reader and an ardent history buff. He also enjoyed playing poker. He was predeceased by his son Robert Voudren, and his siblings, Earl V. Voudren, Herbert W. Voudren, Ellen Stanley, Gladys Lehrer, Geneva Schmerier, Virginia Cornine, Constance Stanton, June Eccles, and Unice Voudren. He is survived by his wife Alice (Savich) Voudren of Concord, NH; son, Richard Voudren, Mystic, CT; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Lachman of Rehoboth Beach, DE and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His Memorial gathering will be held on June 21st, from 1-2PM at the Cremation Society of NH, 243 Hanover St, Manchester, NH. His Funeral Service with military honors will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Cremation Society.
