Herbert Fincher of Litchfield, NH died peacefully in his sleep Monday, March 21, 2011 at his home.
He was born on January 13, 1924 in Wedowee, Alabama to the late William Benjamin and Ruby (Burgess) Fincher.
He received his bachelor of science in engineering from the University of Alabama and his masterâs degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Virginia. He served 22 years in the military and was a veteran of three wars, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Signal Corp. He was awarded the Legion of Merit and the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service.
Mr. Fincher worked as a Program Manager at Sanders Assoc. in Nashua for 20 years, and served on the NH State Water Commission. He was an expert gardener, avid fly fisherman and accomplished wood worker.
He is survived by his dear wife of 61 years, Kathryn Fincher; daughter Susan and her husband David Doolittle of Watertown, MA; daughter Barbara and her husband James Holden of Pleasanton, CA; son Thomas and his wife Sharon Fincher of Hudson, NH; daughter Ann and her husband James Nutter of Northampton, MA; four grandchildren, Liz Doolittle, Stephanie and Evan Fincher and Roue Nutter.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 12:30 at the First Church of Nashua, 1 Concord Street, followed by a Reception at the Woodland Place Club House, 2 Fernwood Drive (off Cutler Rd), Litchfield NH.
