Honey A. (Bires) Gifford, 90, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2019 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Anna (Jacobs) Bires, she was the eighth child and first girl in a Slovakian family of ten children. She was named "Honey" by her seven older brothers who were overjoyed that a girl had been born.
In her early 20's, Honey moved to California where she worked a variety of office jobs relating to real estate and, ultimately, in the field of escrows. Honey became an escrow officer and executive Vice-President of D&G Escrow Corporation in Encino, CA where she remained until retirement. Following retirement, Honey and her late husband, Bud, moved to New Hampshire to be with their daughter and her family.
Honey was an avid candlepin bowler and continued bowling on a league at the age of 90. She loved music and had an especially beautiful singing voice. Honey shared her gift of music as a member of the choir at St. Kathryn's Parish in Hudson, NH.
Honey is survived by her daughter, Michele (Gifford) Henderson; son-in-law, William Carey; grandson, John Galt Carey; step-son, Jeffrey L. Walker; two sisters, Mary Bookey and Betty Jane Tesone; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
