Hope Edwards

February 11, 1939 — June 5, 2025

Concord, NH

Hope Edwards was born on February 11, 1939, in New York City, New York. She spent her childhood there, in upstate New York and on Long Island. She completed her undergraduate studies in Nursing and subsequently her master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. She was married and resided in Garden City where she raised four children.

Hope excelled in all sports and was particularly skilled in tennis, golf and downhill skiing. At age forty, she took up distance running and soon completed the Long Island and New York City marathons. In the mid- 1980s, Hope re-located to Vermont to be in the beautiful outdoors that she always loved. While in Vermont, she worked in home and hospice care nursing as well as using her many talents to build her own canoe, become a Master Gardener, train a guide dog for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and design and create numerous quilts for family and friends. In her later years, she continued cross country skiing, hiking and biking and made several cross- country road trips to visit her children and grandchildren in the Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest. Eventually she moved to New Hampshire, taking pleasure in the state parks, lakes and activities in the region. More recently, she often enjoyed long rides in the country and visits to farm stands and gardens with her daughter.

Hope is survived by her children Leslie Wood (Will), Jennifer, and Christopher (Megan), and was preceded in death by her treasured son Craig; she is also survived by her grandchildren Alex and Emily Wood and Alex Schwartz; and her pets Kitty and Stella Grace, all of whom she loved dearly.
