Ileana Valentine passed from this life into eternal life on May 13, 2021. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on November 14, 1960 to her parents Pedro Luiz Rivera and Olga Rivera.
She is survived by her father Pedro Luiz; her devoted companion and husband Norman; her loving children Nathaniel, Daniel and Dominique as well as her children by marriageâVenus, Varone, Ravena, and Jason; four immediate grandchildren, Isaiah, Jaivier, Jace and Kiara; three sisters, Jacqueline Serrano, Lissette Feliciano and Betsy Rivera-Negron; two brothers, Ricardo "Ricky" Rivera and Pedro Luiz Rivera II; numerous grandchildren by marriage; and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Ileana was preceded in death and greeted on the other side by her mother Olga Rivera, her brother Rolando Rivera, her favorite aunt Toni Figueroa, and her son by marriage Vance.
Early in Ileana's life her parents moved from Puerto Rico to Brooklyn, NY, where she met and developed life-long friends Jeannie Hernandez, Ruth Sowell, Denise Briales and Maria "Margie" Ojeda as well as many other Christian friends from various churches. It was in Brooklyn, while working for the Salvation Army in 1981, she met her future husband Norman and they became inseparable for 39 years. Not only was Ileana a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and an ordained minister, she was an extremely spiritual woman who truly believed and practiced "Heart to God and Hand to Man". Ileana's spiritual growth was enhanced significantly by the leadership of the churches she was affiliated with throughout the years: International Revival, Brooklyn, Christ, and Hope Tabernacles, Shiloh Community Church, New England Pentecostal Ministries, and NEP House of Praise. Consequently, She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life; she was known for her ability to sense when people needed spiritual help and was loved in the community for her compassionate heart.
To those she assisted, she brought a powerful biblical message of God's redeeming love and liberating power that effectively transformed people. As a testament to her involvement, in March 2021 Ileana was nominated and selected for WMUR's (NH TV Network) Inspiring Women
of New Hampshire Award for her untiring work in Women's Prison Ministry; in addition, she will be honored as the Citizen of the Year at the "Help Us Help Others" 2022 Annual Gala Event.
SHE IS LOVED BEYOND WORDS AND MISSED BEYOND MEASURE
