Irene (Bair)Bignelli of Windham, NH passed away at the Jack Byrne Center for Hospice Care at Dartmouth-Hitchcock on March 23, 2025 after a brief illness. She was 89 years old. She was born in Williamsport, PA on February 3, 1936. She moved as a child to Connecticut, and raised her family in Woodbury. Later in life she moved to New Hampshire to be with her family and lived several years at Birch Heights in Derry, NH.
Irene was very creative, whether it was trying a new recipe or trying her hand at a new craft, often looking at something and saying “I can make that”. She loved Christmas and was known for her trays of cookies and handmade ornaments. She gifted her crocheted dish towels at Christmas that were coveted by all. Irene was loved by all who knew her for her generosity and caring nature.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank S. Bignelli, her parents Lucy (Steinback)Bair and Robert Bair, Sr., her son James, and her brother Robert Bair Jr. Irene is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Jackson and husband Richard Jackson; her grandchildren James Jackson and wife Diana Jackson; Caroline Jackson and partner Brian Murray and several nieces and nephews.
A private burial service will be held in Connecticut at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Jack Byrne Center Fund, One Medical Center Drive HB7070, Lebanon, NH 03756 in thanks for the care they gave her in her final days.
