Irene M. Bourbeau

Irene M. Bourbeau, 85, of Concord, NH, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2025. She was born December 8, 1939, in Laconia, NH, to Maurice and Rosilda Gilbert, the youngest of nine children. The family moved to Concord when Irene was 7 and she attended St John’s School.

1958 was a special year! Irene’s husband to be, Arthur, ended his military service with the Marine Corps in May, Irene graduated high school June 9 and 12 days later June 21, married Arthur W Bourbeau. The newlyweds resided in Concord for their first three of marriage and then moved to Penacook for their next 44 years where they raised their four children and operated a general contracting business for over 30 years. They loved vacationing to Sanibel Island, Florida, golfing, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, and traveling in their motor home. In their retirement years, they loved maintaining not only their yard and gardens but helping their neighbors, giving each other a sweet wave as they passed on their riding lawn mowers. When she wasn’t working in the garden she was swinging on her custom wooden swing that Arthur built for them; watching the birds, enjoying her flowers, and feeding the chipies.

Known as wife, mom, and Nana, she has loved and been loved so deeply by her whole family. While she has been reunited with her only son, Michael Bourbeau, she leaves behind her husband, Arthur, their three daughters Donna Thornton & Butch, Linda Snow, her husband Tom Sr, and Annemarie Stewart, her husband Marc. Her 8 grandchildren; Matthew Thornton, Amanda Colby, her husband Jason, Jessica Currens, her husband TJ, Christina Harrison, her husband Brian, Tom Snow Jr, his wife Jenn, Tyler Stewart, his wife Elizabeth, Julia Maynard, her husband Evan, and Cade Stewart. Finally, are her 10 great-grandchildren who adored their time with Nana: Hunter & Faith Colby, Ava & Camden Currens, Kennedy & Summer Harrison, Tessa, Zoe & Xander Snow and one little one on the way.

Irene was predeceased by her eight siblings and their spouses, Rene Gilbert, his wife Betty, Rita Soucy, her husband Joseph, Del Gilbert, his wife Betty, Arthur Gilbert, his wife Madelyn, Cecile Soucy, her husband Ray, Norman Gilbert, his wife Harriet, Florence Simoneau, her husband Richard, and Edward Gilbert, his wife Rose.
