Irene Fauser

Irene Marie (McManus) Fauser, 89, passed away on January 3, 2023, at Concord Hospital, Concord NH.

She was born on November 22, 1933, the daughter of James and Jane McManus. She married the love of her life, Leonard, on November 14, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA. Together, they enjoyed 54 years of marriage until his passing in 2007.

After their wedding, they moved to Birchwood, NJ and started their family. In 1969, Len and Irene with their four girls; Bev, Judy, Audrey, and Wendy moved to Penacook, NH for new opportunities. Irene worked at the Giant Store in Penacook, Steenbeke and Sons in Boscawen and was a lunch lady for Boscawen Elementary School. Irene was known at Steenbeke and Sons as a practical joker with a smile on her face. Irene and Len retired to Little River, SC where they enjoyed boating on the inland waterways on their Boston Whaler for many years before returning to live in Concord, NH to be closer to family. After Len’s passing, Irene moved back to Penacook to live with her granddaughter, Candace & husband, Bill Fitzgerald and her great grandsons, Conor and Grady. She always described it as the best bed and breakfast in town. She enjoyed sitting on the porch, often sharing stories and laughs with people who stopped by. She loved attending the activities that her family was involved in. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, keeping Irene youthful. 

Irene and Len loved traveling, their favorite trips were hiking in Switzerland and relaxing in Hawaii. The also traveled to Germany, Austria, Spain, and many states in the U.S. In 2010, Irene decided, after researching her Irish heritage to take a trip to Ireland. She spent 4 weeks touring with her family where she was able to see the Cliffs of Moher, Dublin, Galway and Blarney Castle. This was a trip she continued to talk about and share her experience for many years.

She is survived by her three daughters: Judy and husband Bruce Eaton, Audrey and husband Marty Wilson, and Wendy and husband Chuck Houston; ten grandchildren; Candace and husband Bill Fitzgerald, Brandon Eaton, Kristopher Estey, Melissa and husband Benny Pengram, Tara Carey and husband Derek Thribb, Ryan and wife Melissa Carey, Trevor McKenzie, Samantha and husband Tim Broughton, Parker Houston, and Paige Houston; six great grandchildren: Kylee, Conor, Grady, Kinsley, Theodore, and Avery.

Irene was predeceased by her daughter, Beverly Fauser in 1987.

ARRANGEMENTS: There will be a reception in honor of Irene for those who would like to pay their respects on Sunday, January 29^th, 2023, 2pm to 4pm at Alan’s Restaurant, 133 N. Main St. Boscawen. Irene will be laid to rest alongside her husband in a private family graveside service. To truly honor Irene’s life and legacy the family plans to host a Celebration of Life this spring to gather, share stories, laugh, and celebrate Irene.
