Iris Georgina McQuarrie Loved her friends at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home Iris Georgina McQuarrie, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday April 26 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH. Born in 1915 into a military family in Ayr, Scotland, she spent part of her childhood in England and India as well before her father brought his family back to Canada in 1924. After graduating from the Peterborough Normal School she taught junior elementary school until 1944 when she married Mac McQuarrie. Together they and their children lived in Quebec, Schenectady, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro before settling in Rochester, N.H. in 1956. Iris taught Spanish for several years at Holy Rosary High School in Rochester and was also Social Director at Strafford County's Riverside Nursing Home . She is predeceased by her husband, Mac McQuarrie, and survived by her three children: M. Jean Salisbury of Halifax, NS, Janice A. McQuarrie of Phoenix, AZ, and Lewis A. McQuarrie of Bow NH, by her brother Buzz Borland , sister Edna Snider and five grandchildren. A gracious, warm and outgoing woman, Iris was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be conducted in the Hillsborough County Nursing Home Chapel on Saturday, May 27th, at 2:00 pm.
