Irwin J. Yaffie, age 89, passed away on August 15, 2026, surrounded by his family, at his home in Deerfield, NH.

He was born on April 12, 1937, in Syracuse NY, son of the late Edith and Danny Yaffie. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Linda Flinn, sister-in-law Roslyn Yaffie and his oldest daughter, Ellen Marble.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis Yaffie and former wife, Ann Grobosky (Mark Grobosky) and their three children, Karen Yaffie, Susan Johnson-LaFleur (Christopher LaFleur), Sheryl Yaffie (Paul Lombardo), as well as his stepson, Michael Krempel (Christine Krempel). He is also survived by his brother Leonard Yaffie (Roslyn Yaffie) and sister Maxine Weitz (Vic Weitz). He has 9 grandchildren (Matthew, Brandon, Sarah, Kelly, Stephen, Andrew, Kevin, Zachery and Joshua), as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends. A special acknowledgement to Susan Jones-Edwards and Russel Johnson, whom Irwin cherished as close friends and members of his own family.Following a long career in the Service industry, Irwin enjoyed his retirement years volunteering for the Southern NH Services "Fix-it" program to provide home repair services to people in need of extra help. He participated in their first program to build access ramps and was awarded the Dick Gourley Award in 2008 for "Outstanding Contributions of Time, Energy and Attitude given to the elderly in the State of New Hampshire". Irwin also served in the United States Naval Reserve for 8 years.

Irwin was a kind and caring man with an enormous heart who always put others first. He enjoyed spending time with his family, which included many beloved dogs over the years. Tending to his garden, bird watching, listening to classical music, reading and treating his family to his homemade, award-winning, strawberry-rhubarb pies were just a few of his favorite hobbies.

Irwin will be profoundly missed by his family, extended relatives, and many dear friends. A celebration of life will be held in late October by his family.
