Jack Nicol
Graham
September 3, 1932 – May 19, 2026
Jack Nicol Graham, 93, of Peterborough, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough.
Jack was born in Corning, New York, on September 3, 1932, and was raised in Painted Post, New York. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was elected president of his high school class for two consecutive years. After graduating from high school, Jack attended Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1954 and participated in ROTC. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army, including a posting to Korea from 1955 to 1956, and attained the rank of First Lieutenant.
Jack began his professional career at Factory Mutual Insurance Company in the Boston area. He then joined Honeywell Corporation, working first in Harrisburg and later in Philadelphia, where he built a distinguished career that spanned just over three decades. His excellence was recognized through membership in the President's Club and the Roadrunner Club, among other honors.
Jack met his future wife, Dorothy, through his brother Ken, on a blind date chaperoning a dance at South Colonie Central School in Colonie, New York. Jack and Dorothy were married on July 10, 1959, and made their home in Providence, Rhode Island, and later Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, before settling in Maple Glen, Pennsylvania, in 1972, where they lived for more than five decades.
Music was a lifelong passion. Jack sang bass in choirs throughout his life, including in high school, at Lafayette College, and for many years with the Mastersingers, the Bucks County Choral Society, and the Abington Presbyterian Church Choir. He was a lover of classical music, particularly chamber music, and cherished attending live performances throughout the Philadelphia area and beyond, including the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont.
Jack had a deep love of the natural world. He was an enthusiastic birder and talented gardener, and he treasured spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, camping, and traveling with his family to many national parks across the country. He had a particular affection for Acadia National Park and spent many wonderful family vacations on Mount Desert Island. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, Dorothy, at their second home on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, and delighted in visits to his children and grandchildren in New Hampshire and New York.
Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy Ann (Schatz) Graham; his brother, Kenneth MacDonald Graham; and his parents, Kenneth Faye Graham and Anna (MacDonald) Graham.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne Graham (Peter Weber) of Peterborough, New Hampshire, and Bruce Graham (Valerie Kay) of New York, New York; his grandchildren, David, Sophia, Natalie, Ethan, and Juliet; and several extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to Music at Abington (Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001-4593) or Marlboro Music (https://www.marlboromusic.org).
